Allow me to introduce the newest members of my family through my dabbling attempts at photography.

Friends, meet the sweetest kittens in the world: Archimedes (right) and Isis (left.)

As you can see, Archimedes is a feline of many talents. An avid explorer, he never ceases to repeatedly sneak his way into all manner of spaces, be it a small paper bag or the dishwasher. He is also a great goalie and soccer player, and quite computer savvy! Through what I can only assume to be well-calculated attempts to flaunt his computer skills, he has demonstrated a whole manner of keyboard shortcuts I have never seen before.

He and his sister have also sent many instant messages to my friends, interjecting such thought-provoking comments as “]’\,.rt/’;tf” and “65=12222” throughout our conversations.

Isis is equally smart, curious and computer savvy, and has even saved a file on my computer for me (titled “sssssssssssssssssssssssssss.txt”, after opening the “save file” menu all by herself) but is particularly difficult to photograph because she never stops moving. She also has a tendency to attack the camera when she sees me moving it around.

If you notice, the only picture where she is not about to sleep, sleeping, or just waking up, she is a grey blur in the forefront of Archimede’s ping-pong ball photo. She does no lack of cute and adorable things, but as I am no high-speed photography expert, I cannot capture them. Alas.
Archimedes, on the other hand, is constantly posing for the camera. He tends to find objects or places to cuddle and stay there, remaining entirely calm even with a camera in his face, and even with his sister running circles around him.
Both cats, I think, have come to understand the camera as some form of attention- and what kittens don’t love attention?
On more than one occasion they’ve begun to purr upon seeing me hold the camera near them. If I didn’t also constantly play with them I might find this more strange, but for now I’ll assume they see the strange shiny in Mommy’s hands as yet another toy.
