This year’s theme is balance.
It’s eluded me for a long time. The world is bursting at the seams with places to explore and activities to do and ways to learn and grow and develop. How is it even possible to limit your choices to fit into a 24-hour day?
My first loss was sleep, sacrificed to increase time for work and play.
With lost sleep comes lost health, which impairs work and play both. What I wanted – and still want – is a happy medium where I am neither understimulated nor overwhelmed.
Admitting my limits has been the key to the first lock. Counterintuitively, planning to accomplish less in a day has actually allowed more to happen. Who knew? Before, each day I was carrying the weight of everything I planned to accomplish as well as the guilt of continuously not meeting my own expectations. Now I travel much lighter.
